USGS Removes Climate Change Links and Page from its Website

In a report released on July 22, 2019 the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative (EDGI) released its latest report “The New Digital Landscape” detailing changes to government websites between 2016 and 2018 that reflect the Trump Administration’s anti-science agenda.

The report discusses how the United States Geological Survey (an agency of the Department of the Interior) altered the “Science Explorer” section of its webpage to remove the topic of climate change. The page previously had a link to a climate change page in the sidebar, and its main body and one of the links had accompanying descriptive text. There was also a scrolling banner that linked to the climate change page. The current page features no reference to the climate change page, that page itself still exists but all content has been removed (it previously served as a directory to other climate change-related topics).
