On October 1, 2019 The Hill reported that the Trump administration was discontinuing the Interior Department’s Invasive Species Advisory Committee. The committee had been in operation for more than a decade.
The members of Interior’s Invasive Species Advisory Committee were informed that their charter was ending in May and were told that funding constraints and staff capacity were the reason. The committee advised on ways to prevent and control invasive species and a key function of the committee was to oversee efforts to prevent illegal imports at ports of entry of invasive species to the U.S.
