Scientific Consensus on Climate Change Questioned by President Trump

On September 14, 2020, CNN reported that President Trump had questioned the validity of scientific research documenting human-caused climate change and its impact on wildfires in the western United States. While being briefed on the  wildfires across the west, President Trump responded to an assertion that climate change is exacerbating the fires by saying “I don’t think science knows, actually.” President Trump told the secretary of California’s Natural Resources Agency, Wade Crowfoot, “[i]t’ll start getting cooler. You just watch” after Crowfoot warned that it would be dangerous to ignore the science linking more severe wildfires to climate change.
