Release of Hydropower Studies Blocked by DOE

On October 26, 2020, Grist and InvestigateWest reported that political appointees at the Department of Energy (DOE) had blocked the release of up to six studies commissioned by the department's Water Power Technologies Office. According to the report, DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy refused to approve release of one study, evaluating the potential for using hydropower to support solar and wind generation, for over a year.
