Dr. Owino’s is an expert on Environmental and Energy Law, as well as Climate Change and Natural Resources Law. He practices law as a Partner at Acorn Law Advocates-LLP. He has consulted for the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), NEMA and the Kenyan Ministry of Environment and Forestry. He has conducted legal audits and advised several corporate clients on regulatory compliance. He practices before the Environment and Land Court in Kenya and is a trainer on sustainability related legal topics.
An avid academic, Dr. Owino trains upcoming lawyers at JKUAT School of Law where he is a Senior Lecturer and at the Kenya School of Law where he is a member of the adjunct faculty. He is presently a member of the Law Society Committee on Environment, Land, Natural Resources and Conveyancing. He is fluent in both English and German. He holds a Dr. jur degree in international environmental law from Universität Bayreuth, Germany; an LLM degree from University of Dar es Salaam and an LLB degree from Moi University. He is presently a visiting fellow of the Bayreuth Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence in Germany. His research interests are in the areas of climate change; renewable energy and; natural resource related issues.
