NOAA Scientists Attacked By Louisiana Attorney General

In a tweet on February 27, 2018, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry posted a link to a Breitbart article titled “NOAA [i.e., the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration] Caught Lying About Arctic Sea Ice.” The article accuses NOAA of exaggerating the extent to which sea ice is melting. It asserts, contrary to the funding of numerous scientific studies, that “Arctic sea ice is doing just fine” and is “recovering after a period of decline.” The article also erroneously states that “[a]rctic temperatures now are no higher than in the 1930s and 1930s” and that, “[o]n longer timescales, there is nothing unusual about Artic temperatures.”

When tweeting a link to the article, Attorney General Landry said “NOAA caught lying about Artic [sic] Sea Ice,” and questioned how the media “is going to spin this.”
