In February 2019, a member of the Trump administration’s National Security Council, William Happer, emailed the deputy administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), James Morhard, to complain about the inclusion of climate change information on its website. Mr. Happer relayed a message from an unidentified individual, who expressed concern “that many children are being indoctrinated” by what he/she described as “bad science,” characterizing anthropogenic climate change as a global threat. NASA did not remove the information from its website. A spokesperson subsequently told reporters that NASA “provide[s] data that informs policymakers around the world. Our science information continues to be published publicly as it always has.”
