GA Rep. Misrepresented Data on Death Rate from COVID-19 Vaccine

On January 2, 2022, Georgia representative Marjorie Taylor Greene erroneously tweeted that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) showed a high mortality rate related to COVID-19 vaccines. However, medical experts widely agree that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe.

The tweet was Rep. Greene’s fifth violation of Twitter’s prohibition against spreading misinformation related to COVID-19, and per the company’s policy, Rep. Greene’s personal twitter account was permanently suspended. Rep. Greene called Twitter an “enemy to America” and described the permanent suspension as “beyond censorship of speech” on Gab, an alternative platform to Twitter.
