The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices was slated to hold a public meeting as its first gathering under the Trump administration on February 26–28, 2025. However, a spokesperson from the Department of Health and Human Services, the CDC’s parent agency, confirmed that the meeting had been postponed, claiming the delay was made to “accommodate public comment in advance of the meeting.”
A written public comment period for the meeting was scheduled for February 3 to 17, according to a notice in the Federal Register. However, as of February 20, the public comment process had not been opened yet.
Dr. Andrew Pavia, chief of the division of pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Utah, commented, "I think the excuse given is disingenuous. Ostensibly, it was because there was not enough time for public comments, but HHS chose not to open the comment period."
As of February 20, the Advisory Committee meeting had not been rescheduled.
