On June 22, 2022, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) proposed to establish regulations setting minimum standards and requirements for electric vehicle infrastructure projects. The regulations would cover projects funded under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, along with projects for the construction of publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) chargers under certain statutory authorities. Currently, no national standards for the installation, operation, or maintenance of electric vehicle charge stations exist, and the proposed regulations would fill that regulatory gap.
FHWA is accepting comments until August 22, 2022.
