On October 17, 2019, the deputy director of the Office of Science Advisor at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) informed members of the Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board (ELAB) that it was being terminated. The deputy director indicated that EPA had conducted a review in accordance with Executive Order 13875 and determined that retention of ELAB is unnecessary because "there are existing committees and other mechanisms that can provide EPA with the guidance and work products that fall under ELAB’s charge."
