Department of Energy Proposes No Increases to Energy Efficiency Standards for Single Package Vertical Units

On December 8, 2022, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced that it had conducted an evaluation of its energy conservation standards for single package vertical air conditioners (SPVACs) and single package vertical heat pumps (SPVHPs), collectively referred to as single package vertical units (SPVUs). While DOE proposes a new metric to measure cooling efficiency, DOE does not propose increasing the stringency of SPVU energy standards.

DOE will hold a public meeting via webinar on Monday, January 29, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  Webinar registration information, participant instructions, and information about the capabilities available to webinar participants will be published on DOE's website at www.energy.gov/eere/buildings/public-meetings-and-comment-deadlines.

DOE is accepting written comments, data, and information regarding this NOPR/NOPD until February 6, 2023.
