During a speech at the Heartland Institute’s America First Energy Conference on August 7, 2017, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry described climate change as a hoax. The statement was made during a discussion of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is running for Congress in New York, and had strongly advocated for an end to the use of fossil fuels. Attorney-General Landry expressed concern that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s “message has resonated.” He then said:

“Right now, there are 750 candidates and politicians who have signed a no fossil fuel pledge . . . That’s the face of climate change hoax believers.”
