On January 22, 2021, a bill (HB 5235) was introduced into the Connecticut legislature that would, if enacted, “revise the climate change curriculum to add a requirement that students are exposed to the debate and research concerning the amount and effects of anthropomorphic [sic: presumably "anthropogenic"] carbon dioxide levels.” Science education groups have argued that the requirement could undermine scientific education by forcing teachers to present anthropogenic climate change as a disputed or controversial theory.
The bill was referred to the Joint Committee on the Education on January 22, 2021.
