Hema D. Lochan

Hema Lochan joined the Sabin Center in April 2026 as a Senior Fellow for the Renewable Energy Legal Defense Initiative (RELDI). Their work focuses on advancing the buildout of renewable energy projects by collaborating with local community groups and organizations. 

Before joining the Sabin Center, Hema worked as an environmental justice litigator for 4+ years in the Clean Energy Program at Earthjustice, where they represented directly impacted communities in both federal and state cases. 

Hema received their J.D. from Fordham Law School in 2021, where they were awarded the Dean's Special Achievement Award for their advocacy at the law school, and a B.A. in Anthropology and Certificate in Environmental Studies from Princeton University in 2016, where they were awarded the Kenneth Christopher Harris '65 Memorial Award.
