Minnesota Senate Introduces Bill Requiring Instruction on “the Creator” for Grades 9 - 12

On March 14, 2025, Minnesota State Senator Glenn Gruenhagen introduced a bill that would require schools to "provide instruction to students in grades 9 to 12 exploring the contrast between the scientific facts on how sickness, disease, pain, suffering, and death relate to the existence of complex living organisms, and how sickness, disease, pain, suffering, and death are a consequence imposed by the Creator of complex living organisms."

According to the bill text, the purpose would be to “advance critical thinking skills” in history and science classes, but it offered no specifics as to which classes would receive the instruction. Gruenhagen previously introduced identical or similar bills in the Minnesota Senate and House, neither of which passed out of committee.

Update: On April 4, 2025, the bill died in committee.
