The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) delayed the effective date of a climate metric developed for federal highway planning. The climate metric would have required state and regional highway planners receiving federal funding to tally and report anticipated greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles traveling on their roads. The effective date of the climate metric has now been indefinitely delayed while the Trump administration considers revising it. FHWA intends to publish a separate draft rule for the climate metric in the “coming weeks.”
