EPA Budget Cuts Proposed for FY2026

On May 2, 2025, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released the Trump administration's proposed budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2026. Under the budget proposal, funding for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) would be cut by $4.25 billion compared to FY2025 funding. The request specifically targets “woke climate research” among other EPA programs.

According to The Hill, the proposed budget would cut funding for science staff and other program staff by thirty-five percent. EPA’s science and technology programs would also be cut by  thirty-three percent.
