DOE Proposes Amending Regulations for International Electricity Transmission

On May 16, 2025, DOE published a notice of proposed rulemaking to amend its regulations which govern the authorization process for transmission of electricity to a foreign country. The proposal seeks to reduce the "administrative and procedural burdens" of the authorization process, which DOE claims "impede private enterprise and entrepreneurship and run contrary to the President's goal of unleashing American energy."
