CDC Removes Data Sets, Whole Pages from Its Website

On January 31, 2025, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) removed references to gender identity and equity, including studies, guidelines, and vaccine recommendations from its website. Pages on HIV testing and treatment, supporting LGTBQ+ youth health, and the list of the CDC’s vaccine advisory committee’s recommended vaccines were taken down entirely.

Prior to Friday’s removal, a search on the CDC website showed close to 9,000 studies, papers, and guidance pages that could be affected. Extensive data sets, used by researchers in the U.S. and around the world, were also removed or amended.

The references were removed to comply with President Trump’s executive order from January 20 that dismantled Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies at federal agencies.
