Combating Myths and Misinformation about Renewable Energy

September 23, 2024
11:00 AM - 1:30 PM
America/New_York
Foley Hoag LLP, 1301 Sixth Avenue, New York, NY 10019

The success of the energy transition will depend on the rapid deployment of zero emission technologies, such as wind, solar, and electric vehicles. It will also require good faith engagement with local communities affected by the transition, including historically marginalized communities. However, misinformation and coordinated disinformation are pervasive. Earlier this year, the Sabin Center published a report called Rebutting 33 False Claims About Solar, Wind, and Electric Vehicles that examines and dispels common myths and misconceptions.

Please join us at Foley Hoag's offices in Midtown for a panel discussion from 11:00am-12:30pm, followed by lunch and networking from 12:30-1:30pm. In the panel discussion, a diverse group of experts from academia, private practice, the press and advocacy organizations will discuss some of the myths and misconceptions addressed in the Sabin Center's report—and how to overcome them.

Participants will include:

  • Basil Seggos, Foley Hoag
  • Peter Lehner, Earthjustice
  • Timmons Roberts, Brown University
  • Peggy Shepard, WE ACT
  • Jael Holzman, Heatmap
  • Matthew Eisenson, Sabin Center (moderator)

RSVP by Wednesday, September 18.

Please bring a photo ID to pass through building security.
