Climate Change Symposium

The 2021 Climate Change Symposium will take place virtually on Tuesday, March 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Symposium will feature the following presentations:

  • Randall Abate, Rechnitz Family and Urban Coast Institute Endowed Chair in Marine and Environmental Law and Policy; Director, Institute for Global Understanding; and Professor, Department of Political Science and Sociology, Monmouth University: Anthropocene Accountability Litigation: Confronting Common Enemies to Promote a Just Transition, with comments and discussion led by Professor David Cassuto of the Elisabeth School of Law at Pace University.
  • Shana Jones & J. Scott Pippin, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, University of Georgia: Stabilizing the Edge: Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic Shorescapes Facing Sea-Level Rise, with comments and discussion led by Margaret Peloso of Vinson & Elkins LLP.

Information Regarding New York CLE Credits:

Columbia Law School has been certified by the New York State Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Board as an Accredited Provider of CLE programs. Under New York State CLE regulations, this live simultaneous transmission non-transitional CLE Program will provide 2.0 credit hours that can be applied toward the Areas of Professional Practice Requirement. This CLE credit is awarded only to New York attorneys for full attendance of the Program in its entirety. Attorneys attending only part of the program are not eligible for partial credit. Attendance is determined by an attorney's submission of their Attorney Attendance Affirmation with appropriate course codes noted. On submission of the Attorney Attendance Affirmation, attorneys also should submit their completed Evaluation Form, provided by the program organizers. Please note the NYS Certificates of Attendance will be sent to the email address as it appears in the register unless otherwise noted there.

The Columbia Journal of Environmental Law hosts its annual Climate Change Symposium each spring, featuring presentations by two authors selected for publication in the Journal’s special Symposium Issue. To be considered for the Climate Change Symposium issue, articles may be submitted at any time through the Journal’s standard submissions process.
