On December 16, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order 14366, which directs the Chairman of the SEC to review, and potentially revise or rescind, rules for proxy advisors to shareholders of Uniited States publicly traded companies. The Order directs review of rules that implicate, among other things, "environmental, social, and governance policies." The Order provides examples of such policies, including advisor proposals that would require companies to "significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions."
