On May 9, 2025, President Trump signed H.J. Res. 20, a joint resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act, into law. The resolution voids DOE’s final rule setting energy conservation standards for gas-burning, instantaneous consumer water heaters. 89 Fed. Reg. 105,188 (Dec. 26, 2024).
The resolution was originally introduced on January 15, 2025 by Representative Palmer (R-AL) and was passed by Congress on April 10, 2025.
