On April 8, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order 14261, entitled "Reinvigorating America’s Beautiful Clean Coal Industry and Amending Executive Order 14241," to remove barriers to coal mining and electricity generation. He again cites "national energy security" as necessitating "beautiful clean coal"-based power generation.
To carry out the President's policy, the order directs agencies to assess coal resources, remove barriers to coal mining on federal lands, remove regulation that shifts US power generation away from coal, and more.
