On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order 14153, entitled "Unleashing Alaska’s Extraordinary Resource Potential," in coordination with three other executive orders which, together, articulate the administration’s energy policy. The general thrust of the four orders is to encourage the rapid development of fossil fuel resources and all associated infrastructure, and remove any regulatory obstacles; to reverse federal actions on climate change and energy efficiency; and to prevent wind farms from being built on federal lands and waters.
In "Unleashing Alaska’s Extraordinary Resource Potential," President Trump directs that the United States take numerous actions to facilitate energy development in Alaska, which include:
- Expediting permitting and leasing of energy and natural resource projects in Alaska.
- Prioritizing development of Alaska’s liquid natural gas potential.
- Ending restrictions on the development of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and certain other areas in Alaska.
