On June 12, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order 14308, entitled "Empowering Commonsense Wildfire Prevention and Response." The order directs agencies to streamline federal wildfire response, encourage local preparedness, and make changes to wildfire mitigation policies, through various actions. Among those actions includes a directive for federal agencies to consider modifying or rescinding any federal regulations that hinder the use of preventative prescribed fires, fire retardants, and more.
