On March 31, 2025, Acting Comptroller of the Currency Rodney Hood announced that OCC is withdrawing from interagency principles for climate-related financial risk management for large financial institutions. Those principles, issued as guidance in October 2023, were designed to “provide a high-level framework for the safe and sound management of exposures to climate-related financial risks.” In his announcement withdrawing from the guidance, Acting Comptroller Hood indicated that those “principles providing guidance to banks for climate-related financial risk are overly burdensome and duplicative.”
