On July 3, 2025, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) removed its regulations that guide National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) procedures on environmental impacts. The agency stated that the procedures were no longer consistent with existing laws and regulations established pursuant to Executive Order 14154 (Unleashing American Energy).
