EPA proposed to revise wastewater limits, known as effluent limitations guidelines (ELG), for steam electric power plants. Unmanaged CRL is a complex wastestream from coal-fired power plants. EPA’s proposal offers three regulatory options addressing unmanaged combustion residual leachate in different ways, and using different technologies and management practices. EPA presented its rule as reinforcing its “commitment to supporting reliable, affordable coal-fired electricity.”
