On May 9, 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final rule under the Clean Water Act to reduce pollutants discharged through wastewater from coal-fired power plants by more than 660 million pounds per year, promoting cleaner water for affected communities, including disproportionately impacted communities with environmental justice concerns.
