EPA Issues Notice of Stay and Reconsideration of Additional Provisions of Oil and Gas Emission Standards

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a notice stating that it is granting reconsideration of certain requirements in the in the New Source Performance Standard (NSPS) for the Oil and Gas Sector (which covers methane as well as VOCs), specifically the well site pneumatic pumps standards and the requirements for certification by professional engineer. In addition, the EPA is staying for three months these rule requirements pending reconsideration.

As noted in a previous tracker entry, EPA had stated that it intended to reconsider the fugitive emission standards in the NSPS in an April 18 letter to fossil fuel companies that had petitioned EPA for reconsider of those standards.
