EPA Issues Emergency Fuel Waiver for Ongoing Nationwide E15 Gas Sales

EPA issued a temporary emergency fuel waiver allowing nationwide sales of E15 (gasoline blended with 15 percent ethanol), and removing all federal impediments to selling E10 (gasoline blended with 10 percent ethanol) across the country. EPA said its waiver would take effect May 1, 2026. E15 sales are often restricted during summer, because in hotter weather E15 use exacerbates smog.
