On January 20, 2025, the Secretary of the Interior issued Secretarial Order 3415 (Temporary Suspension of Delegated Authority) to implement a 60-day suspension of authority "to issue any onshore or offshore renewable energy authorization, including but not limited to a lease, amendment to a lease, right of way, contract or any other agreement required to allow renewable energy development." The order is consistent with executive orders issued by President Trump on his first day in office.
