On August 11, 2025, the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management issued interim guidance "to broaden commingling authority on public and tribal lands until updated regulations are complete." Concurrently, Interior issued a direct final rule to amend its commingling regulations, and is accepting public comment on that action until September 12, 2025.
