DOI Announces Additional Agreements to Reinvest Funds from Offshore Wind Projects in Fossil Fuels

On April 27, 2026, the Department of the Interior announced that the Trump Administration had reached an agreement with two wind companies—Bluepoint Wind and Golden State Wind—to halt the company’s investments in offshore wind development in the United States, and reinvest refunded lease fees to finance development of various oil and gas projects. Both companies have agreed not to pursue any new offshore wind projects in the United States. This is the third such agreement; an agreement with TotalEnergies was reached in March 2026.
