DOE Rescinds and Amends Energy Conservation Program Standards

DOE rescinded and amended the certification provisions, labeling requirements, and enforcement provisions covered under its Energy Conservation Program for specific types of consumer products, as well as for commercial and industrial equipment. The regulations had been established in DOE’s final rule published October 9, 2024. Under the Congressional Review Act, Congress passed a joint resolution of disapproval of the regulations, and President Trump signed the disapproval into law on May 9, 2025.
