DOE proposed to rescind the energy efficiency standards for battery chargers, codified in 10 CFR 430.32(z). After a reevaluation of its battery charger standards, DOE has tentatively determined that no energy conservation standard for battery chargers is economically justified. It recommends rescinding this rule in full and seeks comment on all aspects of that proposal, “including but not limited to the prior rule's consistency with statutory authority and the Constitution, the prior rule's costs and benefits, and the prior rule's effect on innovation, development, and private enterprise.”
