DOE further delayed implementation of its amended test procedures for central air conditioners and heat pumps. On January 7, 2025, DOE issued a final rule amending these test procedures. On February 5, 2025, DOE first delayed the effective date of this final rule, and requested comments on the impacts of a further delay of the test procedures, as well as legal, factual, or policy issues raised by the rule. On March 20, 2025, DOE noted that it was in the process of reviewing these comments and further delayed effective date of this rule another 60 days to May 20, 2025. Now, DOE has extended that delay until July 7, 2025.
