On January 7, 2026, the Council on Environmental Quality announced it was issuing final rules to rescind its NEPA Implementing Regulations. CEQ initially issued an interim final rule on February 25, 2025, rescinding the regulations. The new final rule was published on January 8, 2025. It responds to comments on the interim final rule, and otherwise adopts the interim final rule without any changes. (91 Fed. Reg. 618).
