Bureau of Land Management Issues Proposed Rule to Promote Commingled Production of Oil and Gas

On January 20, 2026, the Bureau of Land Management issued a proposed rule to allow for commingled production of oil and gas. 91 Fed. Reg. 4045 (Jan. 30, 2026). The rule would allow for combined production of fossil fuels from multiple sources—production may leave a lease, combined with other sources, and measured at another approved location—in order to streamline and promote fossil fuel production. Comments on the proposed rule may be submitted to the BLM by March 31, 2026.
