Alaska State Senator Questions Science of Climate Change

On May 15, 2024, the Alaska State Legislature passed House Bill 50, a law regulating carbon storage, natural gas storage, and other energy issues. In discussing the bill, Senator Shelley Hughes (R-Palmer) questioned the scientific consensus that climate change is caused by carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions. She stated, “I think that there are a lot of questions and a lot of science that is surfacing on whether there truly is the impact of carbon on the climate that has been proposed.”
